World Diabetes Day is celebrated every year on November 14th. It was started in 1991 by the World Health Organization (WHO) and the International Diabetes Federation (IDF) to call greater attention to the current epidemic of diabetes worldwide. United Nations Resolution 61/225 was passed in order to help promote the importance of World Diabetes Day across the globe. The day is represented by the blue circle, which is the universal symbol of the disease of diabetes.
